How to Cook Spaghetti Squash Tips

Spaghetti squash is quite healthy as it is low in calories, and loaded with nutrients like vitamin A, potassium, and beta carotene. It is versatile and delicious also. It can be easily cooked in oven or microwave using a simple technique.

To be cooked in oven:
INGREDIENTS:
1. Spaghetti squash- 1 medium sized
2. Olive oil- 1 teaspoon
3. Salt- 1 teaspoon
4. Ground black pepper-1/2 teaspoon

EQUIPMENT:
1. Sharp knife
2. Baking sheet

METHOD:
1. Wash off the spaghetti squash with water and dry it.
2. Cut off the top and bottom of the spaghetti squash with a sharp knife.
3. Slice the squash in half lengthwise by making it stand flat on cutting board.
4. Scoop out the seeds and stringy pulp using a spoon.
5. Preheat the oven at 375 0F.
6. Brush the inside of each half squash with olive oil.
7. Then sprinkle some salt and ground black pepper.
8. Now, put these half squash pieces with cut sides down on a baking sheet.
9. Place this sheet into the oven.
10. Bake it for about 40 minutes, or till it can be easily pierce with a fork.
11. Allow it to cool for about 15 minutes.
12. Scrape out the spaghetti-like strands using a fork.
13. Toss the squash with butter, salt and pepper and serve it.

To be cooked in microwave:
INGREDIENTS:
1. Spaghetti squash- 1 medium sized

3. Ground black pepper-1/2 teaspoon

2. Baking dish

METHOD:
1. Wash off the spaghetti squash with water and dry it.
2. Cut off the top and bottom of the spaghetti squash with a sharp knife.
3. Slice the squash in half lengthwise by making it stand flat on cutting board.
4. Scoop out the seeds and stringy pulp using a spoon.
5. Fill the baking dish with about 1 inch of water and place the half squash pieces with cut sides down in it.
6. Put it in a microwave for about 10-12 minutes or till it can be easily pierce with a fork.
7. Cooking time depends upon the size of squash and microwave.
8. Scrape out the spaghetti-like strands using a fork.
9. Serve it by dressing it with a salt and ground black pepper.
