DIY Tips to Clean Suede Shoes at Home

Suede is a great material for shoes that appears elegant and stylish. This leather is very delicate and gets easily stained. Many people avoid these suede shoes as they need special care. They cannot be clean using water. But it is not so hard to clean them. There are some home cleaning methods to keep your shoes look great.
Below methods can be used to clean suede shoes with household products:

White Vinegar
White vinegar is used to treat tough stains. Pour some white vinegar onto a cloth. Rub the vinegar on the stained area and allow it to dry completely. Once it gets dried, brush away the tough stains using a suede brush.

Toothbrush
Toothbrush is the best method to clean suede shoes. Gently brush the stained area in one direction as it helps to remove the surface layer of dirt from the fibers.

Baking Soda

Baking soda is great way to clean suede as it absorbs the dirt. Spray some baking soda on stained area and rub it using a brush. Allow it to sit for about 15-20 minutes and then brush it off.

Pencil Eraser
Regular Pencil Erasers is quite helpful and the easiest way to remove scuffs and other tougher stains from suede shoes. Rub it on stains and scratches with little bit of pressure.

Cornstarch / Oatmeal
Rub the cornstarch/ oatmeal onto the stained area in a circular motion using a clean, dry towel. Allow it to sit on the stain overnight. In morning, brush them out of the suede fibers.

Hydrogen-Peroxide
Dip a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide and wipe the stain using it.

Nail File
Nail file is helpful to clean suede. You can gently file off the lumpy mud stains using it.

Emery board
Rub the stain gently with an emery board to wear it away.
